Polio Braces With Men's Shoes

I kind of feel bad putting this under the "Weird" catagory, since this was an item that helped someone, but I could not find a place for antique medical devices. These are a pair of men's polio braces from sometime in the 20's or earlier.
The black leather shoes are attached via steel rods in the heels and pivot at the ankle area to give some flexibility. Leather lace-up cuffs hold the braces to the thigh area. One side has a knee pad as this man needed extra support on that leg. Both have leather leg buckles to hold the braces below the knee area.
